LAS VEGAS – To keep the Phoenix Mercury’s WNBA Finals Game 1 loss in perspective, remember that Mercury also trailed 1-0 in the playoffs first round and semifinals, both shorter series than the Finals best-of-7. That’s not to minimize the agony of losing 89-86 Friday night to the Las Vegas Aces in a game the Mercury led for 27 of 40 minutes at sold-out (10,266) Michelob Ultra Arena.
